How did it come to this? A virus a thousand times smaller than a dust mote has humbled and humiliated the planet’s most powerful nation. America has failed to protect its people, leaving them with illness and financial ruin. It has lost its status as a global leader. It has careened between inaction and ineptitude. The breadth and magnitude of its errors are difficult, in the moment, to truly fathom.
It is a disturbing display of ineptitude and disregard for life that fuels this failure. The administration failed on every level to contain or control this pandemic’s effect in the US. It didn’t need to be like this, and it’s not going to get any better until massive changes in our efforts take place.
Director Alan Parker has passed. I loved Midnight Express and The Wall among others but I’ve always had a soft spot for the challenging but very rewarding Birdy with Matthew Modine and Nick Cage.

Today marks the 19th month since my cancer diagnosis. In many ways it seems like much longer, so much has happened since then. But then it also seems unfathomable that it has been that long. Time is such a weird dynamic when you are living in trauma.
I am having some charging issues with my laptop so am working exclusively on an iPad until I can get it resolved. It’s been an interesting couple of days. I can’t accomplish everything I would like to do but am adapting surprisingly well. The micro.blog app makes posting here relatively easy so will try to keep you updated.
